Sorry for the tardy poem.

What happened is that I'd called him up from the VoIP phone installed at home. [For ppl in the same boat as Donkey, the VoIP phone is linked to a land line in the US, thus enabling you to make "local calls" anywhere in that state]

So when he read the caller ID and found out that it was a SanFran number, he very conveniently brought upon himself an impression that I was in SanFran myself, and proceeded to make plans to meet up. Being a founder member of CTE, I allowed him to be under said impression until he found out the truth on his own - which was till he read his scrapbook. I had explained to him the VoIP concept, in the conversation that involved getting his new number. It was his fault altogether that he hadn't read the last scrap.

Yet another addition to Harsha's Guide to His Own Galaxy.

As said by Ajay Singh Rathore,
"You can take the Rathore out of Ranjore but you cannot take the Ranjore out of the Rathore!"

Ummm.. what exactly?

Ever sunken into a lull? Like walking into a room filled with smoke, not knowing where you are and where you're going. I'm in one of those. It's like in Max Payne, when he's got to walk on some beams and find his way out while everything else is a haze.

I just don't know what I'm doing in life or where I'm heading. Apparently, it's something that happens to everybody. I don't believe it. There's nothing interesting, nothing new, nothing exciting on the horizon. Like today, I got hit by a loon on a bike. As soon as I got up and made sure that I, my sister and my bike were ok, instead of chasing down that bastard, I just headed back home. BTW, I think I've broken my leg. Hairline. Which would be cool, 'cause i've never broken a bone!

At times I feel like dropping everything, packing a bag and with just the clothes on back, heading off into "life" and starting again from the grassroots. Always wanted to do that. At other times I feel I should get my daily life in order with some rigor and constancy.

Once I pictured myself with a wife and kid. Then again I saw myself as the kinda guy who can never learn enough about himself to be attached to others for life. You can call it narcissistic if you like, and I would agree.

Wiser folk will say that I need to stick to somethings and be committed. But then they also say that you need to follow your heart. So if my heart wants one thing one day and something totally the opposite on another day, are the wiser folk really that much wiser?

I would hate to be one of those mediocre, under achieving, seemingly satisfied and BORING bumpkins. No, sir! I would rather step out of line, try something and risk failure, instead of being a conformist.

That attitude tends to explain a lot of decisions I've taken in my life. Like doing BE at BMS College of all places, when I had everything ready to study at USC, twice. Like doing what I felt like without fear of repercussions, since the beginning of BE. Like quitting Fidelity and joining a place that's barely even a company. Like me.

None are to be regretted till date.

But there's one thing that I will never let go of - doing what I feel like. Something tells me thats the right way. Been having many episodes of deja vu. And all I can think of is that I've subconsciously set a path for myself and when I'm on that path, things seem familiar.

One day I hope to look back at this writing and gauge if I've changed. Not, most likely. It's one of those basal traits that generally only a near death experience can alter. But since I've had some of those too, and nothing seems to have changed, hmmm.

In the words of PAAP singer,
"Singh maybe King, but Iyer is Higher!"

Monaco Drama - Undeserved victory for Hamilton

Let me first state that I did not watch the race live. I followed it on the net. Given that, I still feel for Sutil. Not because it was a Force India car, but because I am always for the underdog. (You may take that statement in any way you feel UnderDog! :-P) But one must be reasonable and see that Kimi did not ram the back of Sutil's car with any intent. This incident will be Premium Fuel for all Ferrari/Kimi haters, but by that very fact theirprotests lose credibility. Especially as Kimi expressed his apologies for the whole thing. Did we see any of that when Alonso and Hamilton were sparring?

Let me state something else here. Hamilton has lost all favour in my view. He has had a silver steering wheel all through his career, courtesy Ron Dennis. He might have driven well his first season, but now rumours surface that he copied Alonso's settings map. What makes the rumours believable is that Alonso is way outperforming Piquet Jr and Hamilton hasn't been spectacular this season with Kovalainen matching him all through. IMO, Hamilton is a smooth talking, smooth operating spoilt Brit kid who just got lucky Ron Dennis saw him ages ago and eventually did well in his own career.

If its possible to put Alonso in a McLaren again I have no doubts that he will outperform Hamilton. Alonso has constantly extracted more than what his cars seem to provide, is an instinctively brilliant driver (as compared to Hamilton, who is calculating), is never afraid to take that risk to get ahead.. Remind you of anyone? Dare I say it, he's very Schumacher-esque. I am seeing that only now. And I think I can attribute my hatred towards Alonso to him starting off as Schumacher's competitor. Other than the disconcerting feeling that it would generate, I think Alonso in a Ferrari wouldn't be such a bad idea. I think I'm just finding reasons to make peace with that possibility! :-)

Everyone bends the rules in Formula 1, there are no exceptions. But they are few who lose sight of the line between bending and breaking like the Brits. That brings me to the list of people who I think the sport can do without - Ron Dennis, David Coulthard (just retire DC), Rubens Barrichello, Button, Nakajima, Takuma Sato, Max Mosley. The last name, I don't know in what way he's connected with the sport. Jean Todt would be a better candidate, but being a Ferrari man, his neutrality is the problem. Talking of lists, here's the list of people who deserve a change in fortune (I mean getting the opposite of what they have now) - Hamilton, Sutil, Fisichella, Heidfeld, Anthony Davidson, Piquet Jr.

Apparently, Force India will be appealing to the stewards for an investigation into the Sutil incident. Give it a rest guys. You were dealt a bad hand. Worse things have happened. Race winners have been stripped of their victory. Season Champions have been black flagged. There's always another race, another wet Monaco even, to fight it out. The prospects look good for Force India. The team is not moving backwards like Spyker anymore. They are taking steps ahead and it looks like Mallya's money is making it work. Take that, Teixeira! Stick to your A1.

In the words of Shyam the Driver,
"Money, money, money.. That's all people talk about. Whatever happened to LOUE?!"

Horrible letdown!

The header says it all. My company went to my college today for their recruitment process. There were an unbelievable 560 aspirants!! And only 16 were selected!! Thats about 3%! Holy cow!

Anyways, the worst part was not all that. My namesake, my fellow PAAP singer, my brotha-from-anotha-motha (and father too of course), Achutha was rejected due to a lousy snap decision to handle the overwhelming response. And to make it worse, as a parting comment, he told me that one of the guys who got selected from his class had fudged out the paper. I don't care about any other person who got rejected like this. But I didn't expect this to happen to him. Maybe it was my mistake that I had got my hopes up. Or maybe I should have done something when his paper was being evaluated. I don't know. I was looking forward to seeing him in the colours of my company, in a way of saying. I'm sure it'll take me sometime to digest this. And I have no idea how he must be feeling, or whether he was looking forward to my company because of me, but in his own words "it was little worse than not happy"!

"It happens so sometimes", I agree. On my way to work, I was stuck at a signal for 10 mins, in the same spot! I thought there was a major accident ahead. Later as I eventually made my way through past the signal, I got to know that we were held up to facilitate the free passage of some bloody hypocrite of a politician and his stinky entourage! God! Is this what they are elected for? Kaffir had similar sentiments when I related the incident to him later that day! Utterly senseless!

Eitherways, I'm up to all those things that I like doing best - small things that other people don't notice, like conforming to the tiny symmetries that bring the bigger things within reach of one's limited comprehension! I'd told him that GDS aint no place for a budding Tronix engineer on the verge of the steepest learning curve! Apparently, it was his back-up! There are others of course! Soon it'll be ASS's turn at IBM. Good luck to her. Er, maybe not. She knows why! He he.

Tarle too is deeply hurting, I know. But he has the biggest chance yet to come. He knows it. But I have a sinking feeling he wont capitalise on it and he'll suffer badly. All fingers, toes n other cross-able items crossed.

However, Achutha is on track and I'm happy for him. He can do much MUCH better, he knows it, the whole world knows it. It's still quite a long way to go and I'm damn sure he'll end up at a place that he might have barely even dreamt of! Horse shoe to ya!

Trianing is finally running smoothly. Getting the hang of Oracle 10g and SQL*Plus! Hope I get to be in this line, becuase I like Oracle!! There's loads of things to do, but I've still not yet adjusted to this new life. But it's getting better. Dunno when it'll peak! Again, all cross-able things crossed!

Remember,
"It happens so some times!"

Shopping!!

Went shopping yeasterday with the Kudoors. Training was in Marathalli, and there was a sale at Brand Factory. So the Kudoors turned up there, and me ran to Brand Factory in the lunch break and did some express shopping. Bought 3 shirts in 15 mins!!

Donkey of course was at its funniest. It wore a ridiculous oversized shirt in some garish blue!! Wish I'd taken a snap! Other than that training was hopeless the whole day with some fool faking an American accent eating our heads the whole day. Had a lot of time for pocket billiards, or Pocket Tanks as Donkey calls it!

Ta!

Random segments of code!

Out of sheer joblessness I write these words. I feel there has been absolutely no cognitive development for the past many months. I really don't know why. As usual I'm lost in my thoughts and conversations with myself. Some would call it aimlessness. I wanna call it productive thinking. So full of BS! I wish I could talk to Mrs Menon, but she seems very busy and I dont wanna be over-bearing.

Started my first job about a week back. I dont think I wanna disclose which company. Many conflicting policies are to blame. Or so I think. Anyways, work is good. Rather, training so far is good. Bumbled my way into becoming Class Rep, in a mind-numb-moment brought on by my shadows - cold and cough. Either ways, I hope it works out well for me, and more importantly, to the people in the class. I get the distinct feeling I'm not doing the best I can, or maybe there's something wrong with the way I'm approaching work. To flick's Rajath's terminology, being a kaffir is great! But maybe I can get more out of it and give back even more. I'll wait for the cold & cough to subside and see what I can do.

The projector-party/movie-marathon last weekend turned out great, what with my closest friends turning up and having fun. It maybe the last such event for some time to come. Best was when Donkey Kudoor apparently had a gala time "sleeping" next to me and "watching" The Prestige. However, I'm comforted by the fact that I'm not in any particular or new pain. I shall discuss this no further!

In the words of Truman Burbank, "Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!".

Soooo lazy!!

Yeah, i'm too lazy to blog anything.
